A realm rich in resources, possibility, with incomparable beauty, to the first Demon eyes, the human world appeared to be one of easy conquest and intimidation. Prior Demon explorers, upon entering through The Reveal were unceremoniously murdered by superstitious, fearful people ruled by the struggle to survive.

After centuries of battling an environment that would kill them upon a whim, humans considered their otherworld visitors as monsters come to harm them and with uncanny paranoia, their assumptions were correct.

When the Demons discovered that many worlds of The Reveal were home to creatures of little or no military endeavour, they adopted a forceful colonisation process where they enjoyed ravaging the worlds for all their assets.

Some worlds went without a murmur as centuries of enlightenment dissipated like dust in a hot summer breeze; some fought bloody battles until the last being fell to the onslaught, and some worlds revealed their nature more than adequate in meeting the challenge of Demon invasion.

It was discovered that every world had portals, and these became the natural travel centres with a city springing up around it. Though the world was open to them, those that entered usually stayed close to the portal as Demons had become accustomed to requiring rapid exits when attempts to exploit went sour.

The first humans the Demon interlopers met were a rabble of unorganised brute force, and the ease with which the Demons overcame them gave their invaders a false sense of the nature of their victims. They saw humans as lacking in military structure, lacking the discipline of an organised force, and lacking the superior strength of an elite being.

What the Demons didn’t comprehend was the enduring nature of a creature governed by a passion born into their souls. Humans might have destroyed their environment in order to survive, but they would also defend it with every available strategy.

Demons were straightforward creatures that understood open warfare, uniform battle lines, and chain of command as their rigid structured universe was the only way to contain their wayward natures. Using the tactics that had success upon other Demon worlds they prepared for battle using the safety of tried and proven techniques.

Having little interior discipline, Demons created an exterior one that was governed by a series of expectations created by a watching universe. In the past, this had garnered success in battle, but in the past, what they had encountered were those that understood the validity of superior strength.

Their human counterpart, on the other hand, didn’t believe in conceding defeat and saw any mode of attack as a good one. They employed a relentless method of guerrilla warfare that both puzzled and confused their opponents.

Soon they became known as the Crafty Ones, dropping from trees, setting traps, using deception and distraction while happy to forfeit their lives if it meant removing an opponent. Demons found themselves, despite their advanced fighting skills, vulnerable to an invisible enemy and for the first time they discovered the humiliation of being unable to control a world they believed they commanded.

Demons realised to their dismay that humans learned quickly, were innovative, and soon deployed their own tactics against them. What started as the series of skirmishes by an unorganised rabble suddenly became a united front against their enemies. These creatures with barely a method of communication and weapons of basic construct kept their invaders at bay as they sacrificed everyone and everything for their objective. The humans were fighting without imposed skills, learning as they battled, and the Demon vision of an easy conquest became the stuff of nightmares as they watched entire plains left burning behind retreating lines.

Unwilling to admit to the humiliation of defeat, had the otherworldly invaders retreat back through The Reveal leaving their brief visit to become the foundation of gruesome human fairy tales. The memory of their presence fell into the mists of time and lore while they became both the tools of religious fear as well as the ogres, giants and fiends used to scare errant children into behaving.

Their influence revealed itself centuries later as some human societies, such as Spartan, embraced what they believed to be a superior warrior ethos. The Demon kept up periodic reconnaissance as they watched the evolution of a world of enticing resources and unfathomable beings. Soon to become embroiled in a battle for survival in their ever-changing universe, Demon observation fell by the wayside.

By the time the visitors from The Reveal took note again of the human realm, they had discovered a complex new world with weapons that surpassed Demon inventions. There were new beings with Demon attributes supporting human interests as well as trained hunters killing both Demon and the new creature—the Vampire.

What the Demon visitors didn’t expect was the transformation of the world from one of meagre survival to one of well-ordered sumptuous comfort. The Crafty Ones were soon appreciated, not for the potential of their world, but for the potential of their creativity. They understood and produced hedonistic pleasures unknown to the Demon realms. What was once a world to be conquered, instead, became the pleasure destination of a multiverse.

The resource rich world with a society chasing endless pleasure was both a revelation and seduction to a Demon mind sidetracked for centuries by their conflicts. Vampires, the link between the Demon and the human, proved to be a useful and profitable alliance as the Crafty Ones became known for their ingenious originality.

Demons would have done what they did best, exploit the exploitable, but they met their match because the human being was capable of treachery even a Goblin would be proud to acknowledge. The Crafty Ones were left to their ignorance and Demons; instead, of razing this world engaged it in every manner possible.

Centuries later, when the human realm was rediscovered the Martycs noticed and acquired the human realm with very little spilled blood. Once in control of the finances, the Empire recognised the special circumstances of the realm—the value of The Veil and cooperation of the Vampires. In order to maintain the equilibrium of the world while enjoying the jewels on offer the Empire was quick to establish a clandestine network beneath the daily activities of the humans.

Like all beings, those from The Reveal had similar needs and enjoyed similar recreation. Demons became drunk, fought, and fornicated with the best of them and the only difference was that they had not done it the human way. The first discovery of this world was food as Demons discovered to their great pleasure was that not only were there gourmet chefs, but they valued the taste of properly cooked meat.

Some Demon worlds followed a strictly vegetarian diet, but the type of Demons strong enough, rich enough, to cross over were closer to their savage origins than their suits suggested. Another discovery was alcohol, for once again the humans excelled in their beers and spirits with the juniper flavoured gin a prized favourite.

The drugs of the human realm were no match for the extended intoxication from haluh and these were scorned by the visitors whose universe could provide a far better high. Sex, however, especially with a human women with their different sexuality was a curiosity that every Demon longed to explore.

As with all worlds the human one had brothels that catered to every taste, even those of their Demon visitors. Due to the struggle to survive in their harsh environments, the Demon growth towards civilisation had invested little into art, luxury, and seduction. Sex had been either to relieve an urge or procreate, and while there were those who specialised in pleasure for a living, they were usually the province of the rich of Ravulisa.

The human world, though full of inequity still had a far better ideal of equality than the Demon and so even the man on the street had access to a local bordello. While in general, deviate sexual practices were frowned upon there were enough kinky humans to cater to most fantasies. One practice that was never tolerated was violence for human-on-human violence was an event that could be survived, but Demon to human could not. With the basic rules laid down, those humans always willing to profit from anything and everything soon had thriving Demon only businesses.

Demons marvelled at the care humans took of their luxury, where food was not only tasty but also prepared and presented beautifully while allowing for a myriad of tastes. Wines were not just wine, they were red, white, sparkling, dry, sweet and spirits covered a range of flavours.

Sex was the pleasure Demons sought and resisted the most as if their ability to enjoy was tempered with the reality of the universe they would return to afterwards. Human women were soft to touch, but not soft to know and could seduce, cajole, and use men with a brutality that excited Demons beyond the physical act.

They understood pleasure, were artful in employing it and expert at manipulation. If asked, those being paid believed they had ordinary sex with strange looking creatures. Never once realising their impact upon the beings was greater than their physical interaction as to them it was merely business.

For Demons, the excitement of the human connection was their ability to make pleasure into a business. Demons desired an entirely new style of woman, one their universe couldn’t provide to those with shallow pockets. They wanted their women soft on the exterior with a heart of steel for governed by an expectant universe—it was the unexpected that seduced them the most.
